Three years ago, the world watched in horror as Hamas terrorists unleashed an unprecedented massacre against Israel on October 7, 2023. The brutality was beyond comprehension. Yet, almost immediately, Americans witnessed something equally alarming: demonstrations celebrating the attack and condemning Israel.

Within days, Students for Justice in Palestine called the massacre a “historic win for Palestinian resistance” and urged “armed confrontation with the oppressors.” Over the following year, anti-Israel demonstrations spread across more than 500 college campuses, while antisemitic incidents in America reached record levels.

But these developments did not happen spontaneously.

As Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) explained, the campus protests were the product of “an organized network that has spent decades building influence inside the United States.”

At the center of this network is the Muslim Brotherhood, an international Islamist movement founded in Egypt in 1928 and active in approximately 70 countries. Its stated ambition is nothing less than the establishment of global Islamic rule.

The Brotherhood has been active in America since 1963. Its secret 1991 Explanatory Memorandum describes a strategy of eliminating Western civilization from within and establishing Islam's dominance. The document also identifies 29 organizations as “our organizations and the organizations of our friends.”

Its influence reaches into American institutions, politics, and universities. Meanwhile, its ideological offspring include Hamas, the terrorist organization responsible for October 7.

Several Middle Eastern governments have designated the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization. President Trump also took an important step last November by directing that certain Brotherhood chapters be considered for foreign terrorist organization designation.

But America cannot afford to stop there.

Congress must pass the Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act, requiring the designation of the Brotherhood as a foreign terrorist organization. This would provide critical tools to disrupt its financial networks and prevent Americans from providing material support to the organization.
