To show you how serious Erdogan is, ponder this “praise” from Muslim Brotherhood spiritual leader Yusuf al-Qaradawi, who declared in 2014: “Erdogan is in a way the current caliph of Muslims, and Istanbul is undoubtedly the capital of the Islamic caliphate.”

A “caliph” is the successor to Muhammad, Islam’s supreme political and religious leader.

One more startling detail. Erdogan wants to reconstitute the Ottoman (Turkish) Empire — a Muslim caliphate that until its defeat in December 1917 stretched from Central Europe to much of the Middle East. Erdogan wants it back, including Israel and Jerusalem.

Nonetheless, Trump praised Erdogan in his recent meeting, held in Ankara, saying he has had a “very special relationship” with the authoritarian leader and would-be caliph.

Erdogan wants to make Turkey great again — and in the worst possible way. Giving him the world’s most lethal and undetectable fighter jet will only accelerate his monomaniacal quest.

That is why I urge you now to sign and return the enclosed NO F-35s FOR TURKEY! petition to House and Senate leaders.

Some House members have already opposed any sale, telling President Trump in a July letter, "... it is not in the best interest of our country to sell them [Turkey] F-35s.”

Now Congress needs to hear from you. Sign the enclosed petition and, as you do, I ask you to make your most generous financial gift.
