On July 11, the front page of Iran's state-owned Hamshahri newspaper opened with the headline “Revenge is Certain.” Below the headline were pictures of President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with targets on their foreheads, implying these leaders should be assassinated.
Below those pictures, the Iranians also included pictures of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, U.S. Central Command Admiral Brad Cooper, and more, dressed in orange prison garb.
The news headline is an open invitation to any and all jihadis to assassinate these officials.
Meanwhile, Iran launched strikes against Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates, in addition to launching strikes on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, killing at least one civilian tanker employee.
For far too long, the U.S. has merely swatted gnats in Iran instead of removing the nest and all traces of the ayatollah’s plague.
It’s time to take off the kid gloves with Iran — not simply because of an insult and threat posing as a news story.
